HOBO Data Logger
Data loggers have been deployed at 5 stations in upper Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts beginning in 2010 with 4 data loggers at 2 stations and continuing in 2011 with 14 Temperature and lumen data loggers at 5 stations (including redundant deployments at the benthic boundary layer and surface depths).  Salinity dataloggers were also deployed in 2011 at 2 stations (bottom deployment).

Specifications for these HOBO dataloggers can be found at:

Data files are being generated for temperature, salinity and lumens in upper Buzzards Bay throughout the summer maximums to examine climate change trends.  This effort of the Coastal America Foundation is being correlated with a re-visit of Howard Sanders 1955 benthic community analyses and other marine research underway. Date from 2011 are presented above, including two salinity loggers.  The data files for 2012 will be available soon.  The 2010 files from our SAVEDOER and eelgrass investigations are in the file to the right.

These dataloggers are accurate and log every 15 minutes.  The Coastal America Foundation maintains them by occasionally checking and cleaning and the lumen spikes indicate the sample logged may have occurred during station maintenance on-board the research vessel deck (always daylight maintenance so light spikes are prevalent and will be filtered out of the final data set).

More data files will be uploaded in August 2011.

Data is offloaded onto a portable waterproof shuttle.
